This timeline was compiled through hours of research between arts writer Nia Brown and curator Faith J. McKinnie. Through the familiar oral tradition in the Black community, they spoke with artists working in Sacramento from the 1990s through to the present. This doesn’t at all represent the totality of Black creativity, but gives a glimpse of the impact that Black artists had throughout the Sacramento region over the last five decades.
